Climate Change Deniers
What kind of men are these? What kind of women? Where do they get the arrogance to toy with the future? Captains of Industry. Technologists, Politicians, Lobbyists, Scientists, Academics, Fellow Travelers...What price do they pay for their ignorance?
Do they pay a price? Don’t they see the damage? Do they remember the past? Can they imagine a future? What will they sell for money? Do they have kids? Do they look to the future? Don’t they feel responsibility as a short time passenger on this world? Do they think? Can they imagine?
Is there a god, a supreme something that will bail them out? Will he/she/it forgive them?
For they know not what they do. No. They do. They know it. They can see it. They couldn’t have risen so high without knowing it. Could they have risen accepting it? Giving value to it? Was there a middle ground?
You try to imagine. It is hard work. There’s peer pressure, the career. Someone will do something. I have kids. I have kids in school. I can’t speak out. It’s not my place. They will fix it. If it’s all that bad, they will fix it. Someone will invent.
Oh, there’s the plane, the limo, the yacht. I can’t lose these. A few more years. I’m out. Somebody else’s problem.
What is more important?
Out of their hands, is it? God’s will. Was there a guarantee? A Planned End of Civilization.
Or did they believe some religious dogma, that man has dominion ...over all the beasts that walk, the birds in the sky, the fish in the sea. And that the others were put there for his use, and the world was created for him and that whatever he did to it, he would be forgiven. Or did he just think that it was someone else’s problem?
And now, when they all know, and we know, and they know we know. What now? We continue, we lie our way through it. "I’m not alone, others did it. You can’t prove a thing."
